Slime!

Imagine for a moment, you
have in your hand a ball of green, sticky, slippery, squishy, slime. You take
your other hand and you gently put it on top of the slime ball, cupping your
hands, surrounding the slime. You hold it, you look at it, and you feel it;
then, all of a sudden – YOU SQUISH IT! Immediately the slime oozes between your
fingers, splatting onto the table beneath your hands. You pull your hands apart
and what's left is little green bits of goo stuck between your fingers, stuck
on your palms, and the rest all over the table.

! When the mixture was done, the kids had sparkly coloured slime to squish and enjoy.
Here’s the recipe below!
Materials:
-
Liquid Glue (1/2 cup)
-
Water (1/2 cup)
-
Food Colouring
-
Borax (1 tsp)
-
Water (1 Cup)
-
Two Plastic Cups
We scaled the recipe so that it could be made for twelve
kids, then divided the total amount so each child had their own, smaller,
proportion that would fit in the disposable cups we had.
Steps:
1.
In one cup, mix ½ cup glue and ½ cup water
together, add food colouring and sparkles.
2.
In a different cup, mix 1 tsp Borax with 1 cup
water, until the Borax is dissolved.
3.
Pour the water-glue mixture into the Borax-water
and stir together.
4.
Keep mixing until the slime has been formed; you
can kneed the mixture together to try to get as much water as possible – if
there is left over water, don’t worry just pour it out!
And now you have your own slime!
Enjoy,
Katie

Sand-wiches

It seems like May has been
bringing in the showers, but the staff and children have been ready for any
weather. With spontaneous showers happening lately the kids have been great
with being flexible about where they play. But of course, they love to be outside
in the fresh air, especially with the sand toys. Many kids have been hard at
work in the sand pit creating water tunnels that link to one another. They are
always welcoming other children to dig with them, as they have realized that
the more people that are helping the more tunnels they can make. By making all
these sand tunnels, it has given them access to water so that they can make
“sand food” to serve the busy workers. They have made pies, pizza and even
smoothies to share with their friends. But
of course, they are only pretending to eat the sand food, since it is not that
appetizing. Even when the leaders have to put away the sand toys for the day,
the children can’t wait to play with them the next day so they can continue
building their masterpieces.

22-05-2015, 05:44 PMWith the sun shining bright and the weather getting warmer, I wondered what our kids like the best about summer, so I proposed the following question:
What is your favourite part about summer?
Angel- "going swimming"

Andrew- "I'm going to Mexico"
Max- "my birthday"
Isaac- "going swimming"
Noa- "when school starts again!"
Theodora- "going on a hotel"
Savannah- "I don't know"
Tea- "no school"
ZiShen- "soccer"
Some good answers indeed, I am definitely looking forward to the amazing field trips we will be attending.
This is also a perfect time to remind everyone to start packing water bottles and sunscreen!
Thanks,
Jason
