Winter is approaching but with the recent low temperatures you would think that it has already arrived. It feels just like just yesterday that we were running around outside in our shorts and t-shirts, but lately it’s been way too cold to be outside without being all bundled up in our winter gear.

We here at SR. OSC, and some friends over at JR, have been working on a very special project. We have renamed this month 'LOOMVEMBER' and have been looming toques and scarves that will be put into care packages for women and children in need. 

In the coldness of the winter, a nice toque or scarf can be so beneficial in our fight to stay warm. For many of us, myself included, this has been our first time looming but everyone has quickly picked it up in no time. Learning new things and doing art activities is always fun but when you know that you are doing something that will help someone else, it makes the activity that much more meaningful.

So far here at SR we have completed 15 toques & 1 scarf. The kids have really enjoyed being able to pick their own colours as well as the size e.g. a baby, kid or adult-sized toque or scarf. It’s always exciting when a scarf or toque has been completed and we can’t wait to see how many we will have finished by the time of the donation.
