The newest craze at Sr. OSC does not involve; dragons, rubber bands, magic or fictional characters from another world, instead the newest fancy for the kid’s consists of 2 paddles, a plastic puck, and a bit of air. Introduced this week, thanks to a generous donation by Kylie, the kids have been having a blast battling it out on our newest hand me down air hockey table. Having sat in a dungy garage for the past couple years Kylie offered Sr. OSC a chance to inherit a nostalgic activity quite popular from what I remember as a kid.

Since making its way into Sr. OSC the kids have had numerous run ins with errant pucks from speedy shots, a couple of sore fingers for their troubles and of course the on-going challenge of how to score when an opponent refuses to move their paddle anywhere beyond their goal’s edge. It takes time but once the game starts there is no stopping the puck; those who take risk or take a slower more subtle approach to the game often win the battles. No matter what the level of competitiveness or skill level may be the kids are having a blast, going back and forth against one another while remaining true to the game.

What more can you ask for when all you need is a couple paddles, a puck, and a board of air.
