Fun on a Pro D day!

On Friday during Gilmore and Quilchena’s Pro D day we took advantage of the nice weather and spent the majority of the day outside.  Brice, Noah, Rhyann , Alex, Ian and Carolyn skated the day away on their longboards and skateboards.  Soon everyone was outside soaking up the last of the rays before the day turned to rain.  Junior OSC was over for a visit and joined us outside armed with chalk.  Together we combined longboarding with chalk and a mural was born!  Just as Junior OSC headed back to West Richmond the rain fell down leaving us a blank canvas for another day!

Rain, rain, go away, come again another day.

Smiles,

Carolyn

When chalk and longboards meet a new activity is born.

A little tune up goes a long way when it comes to caring for your longboard.

Creativity with chalk

After a long day at school, Kayla, Kaitlyn, Regan, Kamilah, and Taryn took it upon themselves to relax and have a good time. Their inspiration for the afternoon was chalk art outside in the park. They took full advantage of the sun shine and the blank canvas around them, while displaying a couple leaders in a very interesting light. A word of warning, leaders in art work may not appear exactly as shown in real life.

Hope you enjoy!

Jason

All hands on deck. Word of the day!

Taryn's portrait of her pet fish.

Regan's self portrait of herself.

Peter singing or just in utter shock?

Oh my! What big feet you have Jason.

"Yum" Hearty Snack!

Delicious, fabulous, messy, and enjoyable!

These are just some of the words that the kids have used describing our weekly “Hearty Snack” menu. Since school has been in session our staff has been hard at work, carefully preparing hearty meals for all our kids to enjoy. Every meal is carefully planned out, prepared, and served to the kids as a snack after school. Meals are carefully crafted at the community centre with nutrition in mind and the hope that all the kids will take the opportunity to try new things. There are occasional treats, of course, but of the healthy variety. Some of the items on the menu this month include: chicken fajitas, lasagna, banana bread, and twice baked potatoes. If you are lucky enough to come by right after school, you may be able to catch a whiff and a glimpse, but we have to remind you, snack is only for the kids. Our sincere apologies.

Aloha,

Jason

Welcome!

Welcome to another year at West Richmond Gilmore Senior Out-of-School Care. (SR. OSC) We hope summer has treated you well and it has given you a much needed break from the norm. To our new families we look forward to meeting each and every one of you, to our returning families we look forward to seeing you once again.

As a reminder for the new year we would like to ask all parents to please give us a call if your child will be absent or will not require pick-up from school. We greatly appreciate a call or a message be left with us, rather than burden you with frequent phone calls when your child has not shown up. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask any of our friendly staff members as well.

Please feel free to roam around our site and get to know where things are, we will be frequently updating our site with new and interesting ideas so check back frequently to keep yourself up to date. Again welcome to another great year and we look forward to sharing our experiences and fun with you both at Gilmore and on our new website.
